Journal Entry: The Kite Runner

The Kite Runner story begins with a flashback of the characters. They talked about Hassan and Amir when they were young, and about what happened to Hassan's father and mother. It also tells about the other characters and what happened to them in the past.

I think the story tried to start with a flashback because the main story is about the past. It somehow reflects on the past. I believe his purpose is telling how the characters became who they are today and why they became who they are today. For example, it tells us in the flashback that because of Hassan's first words and Amir's first words, something happened. I would really want to know what happened because I've been wondering for a long time. Some other things that we learned is that Baba wants Amir to be like him, his mother ran away, and Rhamin Khan tells Amir lots of secrets that Baba doesn't tell Amir.

This is why I believe the story starts with a flashback.
