Character Relations in "The Kite Runner" to "My Enemy, My Brother"
The characters Najah and Zahed in My Enemy, My Brother relate to Amir and Hassan in The Kite Runner in many ways. For example, saving your friend. Hassan stood up for Amir when they were about to get bullied by Assef and his sidekicks, which relates to Najah and Zahed. During the Iran-Iraq war, Zahed saved Najah when he was about to die, because Najah got injured by the bomb. There was a bomb in his bunker, which got him injured.
Hassan and Zahed relate to each other by these reasons. Both men shows loyalty and a kind heart to their friend. For example, Zahed saved Najah's life even though they were emenies and in war against each other, while in chapter five of The Kite Runner, Assef was about to punch Amir in the face, but before he could do that, Hassan threatened to hurt Assef with his sling shot. This saved Amir from getting hurt. These relates because both characters saved their friend from getting hurt.
Najah and Rahim Khan also relate to each other. Before Najah joined the war when he was 18-19 years old, he had a girlfriend who was pregnant. Before he left, he promised his girlfriend that when he comes back, they would get married and start a life together. We can relate this to Rahim Khan, because Rahim Khan almost got married one time. Rahim Khan fell in love with a Hazara named Homaira. When Rahim announced the marriage to his family, they all disagreed with it. This results to Rahim's father putting Homaira and her family on a lorry, where Rahim was not able to see her ever again.
We feel that Zahed has a pure heart being able to follow his conscience even though he was told to do otherwise. We appreciate Hassan's loyalty towards Amir in the book The Kite Runner. Even though Amir treats Hassan like a slave sometimes, Hassan treates Amir as a good friend. All in all, there are many comparisons between the characters in My Enemy, My Brother and The Kite Runner.
