Our Kite Project
For the recent kite runner project, each group had to create a kite with four different panels that explains about the story. In our group we also had Annabelle and Chloe working with us. This kite gave us an opportunity to fully explain about the story while making it neat so everyone can see it.
For our kite, we used blue paper as the base color while each member painted a different shade of blue on the top. The different shades of blue helped represent the panels better. For example, for the panel explaining about the theme, friendship, we used a neutral color. This is because friendship can be a good and a bad thing. We all decided our kite should be a delta because it is eye-catching. Working on our kite was very interesting and a fun experience. I, Anna Calvert, never made a kite before so I learned a lot from my other members like Annabelle.
For our kite, we had four panels to explain different things about the story. For example in one panel, we explained about the symbols in the story. The symbol our group choose was the slingshot that both Hassan and Sohrab used. The slingshot represents bravery and standing up for yourself. Both Hassan and Sohrab used a slingshot to protect Amir from Assef. The only difference is that Sohrab actually caused pain while Hassan did not. Sohrab was able to avenge his father, Amir, and himself at the same time. Both Hassan and Sohrab were able to stand up to Assef which showed bravery. On the panel, we painted it pearl because just like a real pearl, bravery ¨shined¨ throughout the story.
This is what our turning point was. The turning point we chose was when Amir went to see Rahim Khan.
Amir was a character that we chose for our kite. A famous person we related Amir to was Nelson Mandela.
We chose 'friendship' as our theme for out kite.
