Second Chances

My love seemed to always shine did you know?

I wondered how my love could shine so bright

If you happen to catch a glimpse then woah.

I’ll be sure to never let her in sight.

She is mine and only mine to keep forever

If you ever lay a finger on her

You’ll be in trouble, so don’t be clever

Be clever and you’ll be caught in a blur

But, love could protect you and anger me

She’d say, “you leave them be, or I will go.”

“Then go, this betrayal stung like a bee.”

A tear left her eye, and she lost her glow.

I left thinking that I should go right back

Then again, a second chance could backtrack.

I picked this poem in particular because I liked my use of dialogue in it, and also because it holds a feeling in every day life, betrayal. This poem was about someone's love and how he seems very possessive of her and wants to love, protect, and keep her for their own. It's a lovely thing, but there could be a turn and she could go against you and what you're trying to do. She gave you an option to choose, which in his eyes it seemed to be as if he was choosing his life or death. Don't protect her, or let her go, it's like he'll lose her either way so he should go. After realising what she had said a single tear fell, and he was gone forever.
