John Green, Our Favorite Author

John Michael Green was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on August 27, 1977 to Mike and Sydney Green. He grew up in Orlando, Florida, attending Lake Highland Preparatory School. He intended to become a Episcopal priest, but he worked in a children's hospital attending to children suffering from life-threatening illnesses and that inspired him to write The Fault in Our Stars. Green worked for a book review journal Booklist, in Chicago, Illinois and then started writing more books.

Some books he wrote were Looking for Alaska, his first book, Paper Towns, and The Fault in Our Stars. Many young teens love to read his novels because he typically writes about young romances. Other than being an author, he also has a YouTube channel with his brother called Crash Course to educate high school students.

We feel that John Green is an author that inspires us. He writes amazing novels that we all love to read, and many of us has almost read all of his books because they are so good. Paper Towns and The Fault in Our Stars are actually books that became movies in the big screen. Both movies became pretty popular around the world.

John Green relates to one of us. When John Green was younger, he was bullied and that effected his teenage years in many ways. When one of us was younger, she was bullied because of how she looked. She dressed differently than the other girls and her classmates made fun of her. She liked to wear bright colored dresses and clothes, while all the other girls wore bland colors.

Another connection we can make to John Green is that he likes to write. To me, (Gillian) I love to write poems. Writing poems is so much fun and it gives me a way to express my feelings about anything. When you write, you can bring your thoughts and emotions to life and share it with the rest of the world. You can also let people know your past experiences and to all the fun places you've been to. Just like John Green, he wrote The Fault in Our Stars because he had experience with sick children in a hospital and that inspired him to write that book. Overall, John Green is one of our favorite authors. His books are so much fun to read and they keep you wanting to read more and more. Some books we recommend by him are: Paper Towns, The Fault in Our Stars, Looking for Alaska, and Will Grayson, Will Grayson.
