Thirteen Reasons Why

One book that I enjoyed reading this quarter was ¨Thirteen Reasons Why¨ by Jay Asher. This story is about a boy named Clay Jensen that received a box full of cassette tapes that were recorded by his classmate Hannah Baker. However, Hannah committed suicide two weeks before Clay received the tapes so he felt cautious about listening to them. Inside the box, there were seven cassette tapes and on each tape, Hannah explained to her listeners why she committed suicide. She also tells her listeners that she holds each of them responsible for her decision. The story continues with Clay´s point of view of him listening to the tapes and Hannah´s point of view of how she felt.

I enjoyed reading this story because I found it to be different from any of the other books I have read before. It made me not want to put the book down until I finished reading it. The story also talks about a serious topic, teenage suicide, and it made me think about it more. It made me realize that there are some things that we say that can hurt other people. Even though we think that it's a joke, it might mean a completely different thing to someone else especially if they are going through a hard time. I would recommend this story to other people.
